Jonna’s Gingerbread Dough

Ingredients
  • 150gms butter at room temperature
  • 250gms soft brown sugar
  • 50mls golden syrup or dark syrup
  • 1/2 tablesp ground ginger
  • 1 tablesp ground green cardamon ' 1/2 tablesp ground cloves
  • 1 tablesp ground cinnamon or cassia bark
  • 2 tablesp ground orange peel (pomerance)
  • 1/2 tablesp bicarbonate of soda
  • 150 mls water
  • 650 gms plain flour

Combine butter, sugar and syrup

Beat till completely combined

Add spices and beat till combined

Add water and mix well till combined

Fold in flour to form a smooth firm dough

Wrap dough in cling wrap

Place in refrigerator for at least 24 hours
